Aligned Material Life Expectancies
When one material or component deteriorates significantly faster than other materials or components in that assembly, it often triggers the need for the entire assembly to be repaired or replaced, despite the relatively good condition of the other more durable materials. Therefore, aligning the life expectancies of particular components is a more efficient use of natural resources. When less durable materials are integrated into an assembly, they should be easily accessible in order to permit replacement while minimizing impact on adjacent sound materials.
