Buildings are often divided into various zones for which temperature can be controlled separately by a thermostat. Energy efficiency is improved because conditioned air is delivered only to the zones where it is needed. Further efficiencies can be found by arranging the interior layout so that uses with similar environmental requirements are in the same zone.
